Privacy Policy
Draft. PetMatch is in private beta. This page is a placeholder — a finalized policy reviewed by counsel will be posted before public launch.
What we collect
When you create an account we store your email address and a display name. When you upload a pet photo we store the photo file in our object storage and a numerical embedding (a vector of numbers representing visual features) in our database. We also store basic metadata like the pet’s name, species, and any bio text you add.
What we don't collect
We do not collect your location. We strip EXIF metadata (including GPS coordinates) from every uploaded photo before storing it on our public CDN.
How matching works
When you ask for matches we compare your pet’s visual embedding against other users’ embeddings using cosine similarity. We do not share your photos, name, or any other personal information with other users beyond what already appears on your public pet profiles.
Cookies & analytics
We use a session cookie to keep you logged in, plus cookies that remember your language and your cookie-consent choice. With your consent, we also load analytics: Google Analytics (GA4) to measure aggregate traffic, and the Meta Pixel to measure sign-ups from any advertising we run. These analytics load only after you tap “Accept” in the cookie banner — if you decline, they are never loaded. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your cookies.
Deleting your data
You can delete any pet from your dashboard at any time — that permanently removes its photos, embedding, and match history. You can delete your entire account from Settings — that cascades to every pet you own.
Children
PetMatch is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
